Who thinks dogs, cats, horses and cows are a little boring? WE DO!!! Ok, so maybe they aren’t boring, but many students here at UT have an interest in non-traditional species. Even if you are scared to death of snakes, rodents and other creepy crawlers, you may see them in practice. Thus, we are happy to provide you with a lecture series and set of wetlabs that cater to advancing your knowledge of these species. As you can see we have many officers – why you ask – because we have many fields of interest as well as students who love atypical veterinary species. We plan to have speakers giving lectures on small mammals, reptiles, wildlife, birds, exotic zoo species, aquatic medicine and, of course, conservation. This has been an especially good year to join AWE. Not only were there (and there are more to come) interesting lectures but have had several other opportunities including the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians Conference in October, 2007 and the student organized Exotics Symposium this past January.
